BURSA TRIGGERFISH OR WHITE-LINED TRIGGERFISH - Balistes bursa

The Triggerfish is found in regions with coral. It has a horn-like mandible, similar to a parrot, which is used for breaking the coral, mollusks and sea urchins it feeds on.
It has a large head, and eyes near the spiny rays of the dorsal fin. The dorsal and anal fins are at the same level and can move independently, and look like wings. There is a dark spot in the anal region and narrow stripes of varied colors from the snout to the eyes. It reaches up to 25 cm. in length.
  • Origin: Indian Pacific Ocean.

  • Environment: Temperature between 24 and 26 ºC, pH of approximately 8, density of approximately 1020, intense to medium illumination, bottom with some hiding places and plenty of space for swimming.

  • Food: omnivorous species, when adapted is quite demanding. Can be fed with Alcon Gold Marin Sticks, Alcon Gold Marin Flakes, Alcon Shrimp and Alcon Blood Worms F.D..

  • Behavior: Lively and intelligent, it is recommended to keep only one since it is aggressive with its own species. Do not place in aquariums with living coral or rocks because it may eat them.
