BLUE
TANG OR PALETTE SURGEON - Paracanthurus hepatus
The
Blue Tang, which belong to the same family as the Surgeonfishes
and "Tangs", is distinctive for the black mask that
covers its eyes and which blends with a large black area that
extends over the dorsal and sides.
The body is oval and a harmonious blue, which is lighter in
the abdominal and pectoral fin areas. The dorsal and caudal
fins are wide, and the caudal is golden yellow, outlined in
black. It reaches up to 25 cm.
- Origin: Indian-Pacific
Ocean.

Environment: Temperature between
24 and 28 ºC, pH of about 8, density 1025, illumination
should be intense, the aquarium should be deep, with open
space and hiding places.

Behavior: Intolerant of fish
of the same species. It is better to keep only one in
an aquarium.
